My Passion...
Encouraging
students to love and appreciate
music.
I believe that the beginning years of
piano
study
are among the most important times
for establishing a love
for
and a
desire to learn music. This
is usually
when
the student either develops a taste or distaste for music. With
this in mind, I do my utmost to help
my students enjoy studying
piano while at the same time enabling them
to
progress as quickly as possible. I
want my students to experience the joy of making music!
Developing
in students
musical skill and
character.
My
goal is to have
each of my students learn
the keyboard fundamentals and become sensitive, artistic musicians. I also see the development of personal character as an important aspect of learning piano.
Qualities
such as faith, responsibility, confidence, and humility are
what
students
will need
throughout
their lifetimes
to help them succeed in
whatever
they do. Character
presses
them do the best they can not only in
the area of
music,
but in every area of their lives!
Challenging
students to use
the skills they have acquired to
bless those around them!
Music is a wonderful gift from
God! It is a language all of it's own that has the power of
communicating what words cannot. I want to challenge each of my students to not just keep their music to themselves, but bless those around them! Music is one of the
greatest gifts you can share with others! The highest aim for my music is
to glorify my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. ~ Aristotle
I teach piano to beginning through upper intermediate level students. For my beginning students, I start them in a curriculum intended to help them move into classical playing as quickly as possible. My desire is to develop well rounded musicians by teaching classical music, sacred music, technique (scales, chords, & arpeggios), and theory.
In addition to
association events, I offer a minimum of 2 studio recitals a year to provide
students with an opportunity to share their music with others and
develop their performance skills. I do most of the music shopping and provide detailed report cards to chart student's progress.
